- Prior to playing your set, you are advised to contact the venue where you will be playing in order to check on the type of equipment that is used. Familiarise yourself with this equipment before you play in front of an audience!
- You may be required to go to the venue before your set for a qualification set (depending on the number of applicants for that club) or to be shown the equipment and check that you can actually DJ live.
- Mixing must be done live on the night, and you should bring your own music.
- Although it is usually fine to use additional equipment such as Serato, it is recommended strongly that you should check with the venue where you are set to play that they can do this.

In some venues, particularly in the later rounds of the competition, judging is likely to be carried out by a panel of experienced professionals – who will be looking for an equal measure of:
- Technical/Mixing Ability
- Music Programming
- Style & Performance / crowd interaction / vocal presentation / entertainment quality
- Crowd reaction
Who can enter?
King of the Decks is a contest set up to find the UK's best undiscovered DJ. We want to find amazing DJs who have not yet had the chance to demonstrate their skills on a big scale. For this reason - if you currently make a living out of DJing, or have a residency at any Luminar venue, unfortunately you are not able to enter. Any contestant that is found to be signed or works regularly as a paid DJ with a residency at a venue may be disqualified.
The judges' decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
Thank you!
Thank you for your entry, a venue manager will be in touch shortly.
If you have not heard from us within 48 hours, please contact the venue directly on the contact details that can be found within www.ukcn.com.
